PBS Rebranding Pitch
Develop two motion-branding styles for PBS.
Option 1: Something more bold and unique, but that hints at the current style (seen on the right)
Option 2: 10-20% variation from their current style.
Direction 1 - Volumetric Light
This is my preferred direction of the two. For this direction I want to play with the idea of colored lights that illuminate a space filled with an evenly distributed fog. The colors mix beautifully and slowly change over time. The PBS logo casts shadows that criss-cross and fan out as the light source changes position.
There are a lot of fun possibilities. The PBS logo can cast one giant shadow to drawn attention to another part of the screen and reveal footage, cast multiple shadows to create interesting shapes, and eclipse the invisible light source leaving only an aura of color and light around the logo, like a smoldering ember.
Direction 2 - 10-20% variation
For this approach, I’m taking the current PBS branding and pushing it in more graphic, using soft gradients, transparency, and rotation to create volume through layering.
